Team Building

Build awareness and connection through insight

One of the best ways to develop trust and relationships among members of a team is to introduce a neutral language to describe differences in how members perceive and act on the world. SMLT is certified in two instruments which we use with clients to generate those insights:

Insights Discovery

Insights Discovery is a leading psychometric tool designed to help people understand themselves and their colleagues so that they can have more respectful, productive, and positive working relationships. The Insights methodology uses a simple and memorable four-color model to help people recognize their style, their strengths, and the value they bring to their team:

  • Cool blue –  cautious, precise, and deliberate
  • Earth green – caring, encouraging, sharing
  • Fiery red – competitive, demanding, determined
  • Sunshine yellow – sociable, dynamic, demonstrative

SMLT is a certified Insights Discovery® practitioner. Partner with us to:

  • Administer the Insights Discovery assessment to your leadership or functional team
  • Conduct individual debriefs to cultivate self-awareness
  • Hold a group workshop to learn how individual profiles combine to create group dynamics, and use this knowledge to enhance collaboration and improve your team's ability to achieve results
  • Incorporate additional Insights exercises and learning into your team offsite or annual meeting

Instinctive Drives

Different than other profiling tools that measure personality and behavior, the Instinctive Drives assessment uncovers your innate drives and motivations to reveal why you do what you do and exactly what you need to be at your best.

After completing the assessment, participants receive a four-digit number that becomes a personal success code reminding you and communicating to others what you need to be at your best. Each number relates to the direction and intensity of four Instinctive Drives™:

  • Verify – do you need to “get it right” by having all the information, or do you tend to trust your gut?
  • Authenticate – do you like to be hands-on in the weeds, or do you stay high level and think big?
  • Complete – are you most comfortable sticking to the plan, or having the freedom to experiment?
  • Improvise – how long to do you have to look before you leap? Are you checking for risks, or opportunities?

Each drive and direction are characterized by a different set of needs, natural talents, together with natural vulnerabilities that you should watch out for when looking to achieve goals and build effective relationships.
